The Story Behind The Mission

The Sun Gave Him Everything.
Then It Nearly Took His Face.

The sun gives life. It also takes it. Todd Keirstead knows that truth because he lived both sides of it. Todd built his life in the sun. It was his office, his stage, his identity, and it gave him a career, unforgettable moments, and opportunities most people only dream about. For years, he lived the kind of outdoor life that looks successful from every angle until you realize the cost was being paid quietly in the background. The same sun that built his life also nearly took his face.

Skin cancer. Surgeries. Multiple facial reconstructions. A brutal mental fight to match the physical one. This is not a polished story from someone standing outside the problem. Todd is the warning sign people do not want to become. His knowledge is not academic, and it is not theoretical. It is carved into his skin, and everything he teaches comes from blood, scars, fear, and survival.

Todd had a choice: stay silent or turn his pain into something that might wake other people up. He chose to speak, because once you have lived through that kind of damage, you do not get to pretend it is small, and you do not get to pretend it is rare. Sun safety is not optional. Waiting for a diagnosis to care is exactly how people learn the lesson the hard way.

My knowledge is carved into my skin. I am not here to scare people. I am here to make sure they do not become me.

One Message.

Three Ways To Learn It.

Todd Keirstead, Skin Cancer Coach
Pain Turned Into Purpose

He Survived The Warning.
Now He Delivers It.

What makes Todd’s story so powerful is that he turned it into purpose. Today, he speaks to outdoor workers, athletes, schools, corporations, and families with raw honesty and zero sugar-coating.

He does not speak from a textbook. He speaks from lived experience, and that is why people listen. His message is blunt because the risk is blunt: respect the sun, educate yourself, and protect yourself before the damage becomes permanent.

Respect The Sun. Do Not Learn The Hard Way.

Todd Keirstead on TSN: It Couldn’t Have Happened To A Better Person

No polished scripts. No sterile clinical jargon. No medical white coat. Just a real story of survival, told by someone who has lived it.

Todd Keirstead speaks from experience, sharing a raw and deeply personal story of surviving skin cancer, from the shock of diagnosis to the grueling surgeries and recovery. His message is brutally honest, human, and profoundly motivating, cutting through complacency to show the true realities of UV exposure.

Through vulnerability and truth, Todd connects with audiences on a personal level, transforming the often-dismissed “just skin cancer” into a wake-up call: prevention isn’t optional, it’s essential. His approach is unfiltered, unforgettable, and unapologetically real—reminding every listener that the choices we make today can save lives tomorrow.

home page employer obligation

Employer Liability

• Employers must supply sunscreen, protective clothing, shade, and breaks or they directly violate basic occupational safety requirements.
• Failing to educate and protect workers invites massive lawsuits, as UV exposure is a recognized workplace carcinogen.
• Ignoring skin cancer risks breaches safety laws, exposing employers to regulatory punishment and easily avoidable legal consequences.
• Employers face legal action when workers develop skin cancer linked to inadequate protection and preventable workplace UV exposure.
• Neglecting sun safety triggers negligence claims, proving employers understood the danger yet still failed their legal duty entirely.

home page sports associations

Sports Associations

• Most associations lack sun-safety programs, knowingly leaving athletes exposed to a carcinogenic hazard every single season.
• Coaches rarely understand UV risks, meaning athletes receive zero education while cancer risk climbs silently without resistance.
• Associations almost never mandate UV protection, guaranteeing preventable sun damage becomes a routine part of training.
• Weak or missing policies amplify organizational liability, turning every ignored sunburn into a potential legal and medical disaster.
• Failing to act risks lawsuits when athletes develop cancer, because negligence toward known UV dangers is undeniably indefensible.

home page outdoor athletes

Outdoor Athletes

• Outdoor athletes absorb up to 700% more UV radiation, turning every practice into a slow-moving cancer threat.
• Every blistering sunburn doubles melanoma risk, proving your dedication to the sport may be signing your death warrant.
• Early repeated sun exposure doubles melanoma odds, meaning childhood training can predetermine your future cancer diagnosis painfully early.
• Year-round training stacks thousands of UV hours, turning every season into a higher-stakes gamble with your life.
• Most athletes skip sunscreen, leaving skin unprotected as cumulative, irreversible DNA damage builds silently toward catastrophic outcomes.

home page outdoor workers

Outdoor Workers

• Outdoor workers face 60% higher nonmelanoma cancer risk, making daily sunlight exposure a deadly occupational certainty.
• The longer you labor outside, the higher your cancer odds climb, turning decades of work into biological sabotage.
• One-third of nonmelanoma skin cancer deaths are job-related, proving your daily labor is literally costing lives.
• Half of outdoor workers burn annually, a warning flare showing your skin is actively being destroyed every season.
• Most skip sunscreen and protection, leaving preventable UV damage untreated while employers ignore an escalating workplace health crisis.

home page kids and youth

Kids and Youth

• One childhood sunburn doubles melanoma risk, turning an innocent day outside into a lifelong cancer sentence waiting.
• By eighteen you’ve absorbed 23% lifetime UV exposure, meaning severe skin damage begins before adulthood even starts.
• Sixty-nine percent of kids burn every summer, showing children’s skin is being cooked long before anyone notices.
• Melanoma is the second most common young adult cancer, proving youth offers zero protection from aggressive UV damage.
• Most parents fail to protect their kids, gambling their children’s future health every time they step outside unprotected.

Unapologetically Raw Unapologetically Real

As the Skin Cancer Coach, I don’t sugar coat the truth to make it easier to swallow.

Most sun-safety messaging tiptoe around the truth pretending the danger isn’t immediate.

That approach is the very reason why skin cancer keeps winning.
I’m not here to comfort you, I am here to stop you from becoming another skin cancer statistic.

Skin cancer doesn’t show mercy. It cuts, it scars, and it kills.

So let’s stop treating UV exposure like a suggestion and start treating it like the lethal threat it is. Protect your skin like your life depends on it, because it does.
